About Karen Firebaugh - A1 Web Diva

Karen & Jon Kayaking at Goose Pond MAI have been in freelance web maintenance, development, and design since 2001. To hone my skills even further, until recently, I attended Guilford Technological Community College. Now I'm homeschooling myself! I'm passionate about CSS, Web Standards, and ColdFusion and creating a product that fulfills dreams!

Please check out our e-commerce team project which I'm proud to say exceeded all of our instructor's requirements and expectations and received an A+! I'm particularly fond of how my current project for Mission Ukraine Children's Hope is shaping up. I've recently designed a site for Jonathan Smith & Co, Investment Counsel, which, in the words of my niece, "... site definitely has good chi and it will reflect in added prosperity coming your way."

I'm the mother of four children - 3 'boys' and 1 'girl'.

  • My daughter is a senior at Western Carolina University as a Parks & Recreation Management major and loves climbing walls and high ropes courses.
  • My youngest son is also at WCU in the Honors College and has already changed his major from Engineering Technology to Computer Information Systems with a minor in Economics.
  • One of my older sons is a System Administrator at UNC-CH and an EMT and Fire Fighter.
  • His twin is a carpenter and artist living in Tennessee and about to give me my first grandchild.

My husband is my greatest best friend and my biggest supporter in this new venture (here I am launching a new career when most people my age are beginning to think about retiring). He's a computer wizard, so he'll be the tech support department of FireDreams Web Design.

I love the outdoors and have just discovered a new way to enjoy it: by kayak!! We recently bought 3 and took them with us to our lake cabin in Massachusetts - it was the wisest investment we've ever made. They were hardly ever off the water. Now I want my dream house on Lake Lure in NC.

My Philosophy

Life is good. Enjoy it! ALL of it!
